Great Knaresborough Bed Race to be held on Saturday 11 June

All arrangements are set for the 55th Great Knaresborough Bed Race, to be staged on Saturday 11 June 2022.

The organisers are delighted to report that not only has the event been successfully revived after two years of cancellation due to Covid, but that the weather gods have turned up with the promise that they will shine on the town for the day.

Teams have responded magnificently and have been spotted in recent weeks practicing around the urban and rural spaces of Knaresborough, and finalising their technique for swimming the River Nidd.

Well, we say swimming, but after the recent dry spell the taller participants may be able to wade through the water. The one certain thing, though, is that the river will remain icy.

In advance, the Knaresborough Lions, who put on this spectacular, are thanking all those who help make it possible - sponsors, advertisers, the runners, riders, dancers, musical bands and paraders, as well as volunteers, helpers, services, park and riders and many others. And we are not forgetting the thousands of loyal followers who will turn up to cheer on the teams that take part as they have been doing since 1966.

We know that it will be a great day and wish everyone a happy and safe Bed Race.
