All arrangements are in place for 2019 Bed Race on Saturday 8 June
Final preparations have been made to arrangements for the 54th annual Great Knaresborough Bed Race, to be run on Saturday 8 June 2019, via leafy streets and parkland, through the Nidd Gorge, up the steep climb to the Castle and finishing with the final swim across the river.
Come one, come all: it will provide great entertainment for all the family.
The theme for the fancy dress pageant is 'Yorkshire'. Teams will gather from 9 am in the Castle grounds, parade through the town from 1 pm and start the race from 3 pm. There are 90 teams, as always, of six runners and a passenger.
Town centre roads will be closed from 12 noon to 6 pm. There is free parking at Knaresborough Technology Park/GSPK on Manse Lane and ALM at Grimbalds Crag Close and a free bus service operated by Transdev all day. Parking closes at 6.30 pm.
Rail and bus services, apart from in the town centre, will operate. Access to Conyngham Hall will be by Programme or £2 per adult; children 16 and under get in free. The big screen, kindly arranged by CNG, will be by the river crossing to enable crowds to watch in comfort.
As always, we are hoping for a great, hilarious and absorbing day!
