Bed Race Lottery to be on 16 March 2016
A lottery to decide the final 90 places for the 2016 Great Knaresborough Bed Race will be held on Wednesday 16 March, at 7.00 for 7.30 pm, at the Knaresborough Working Men's Club. All entrants are welcome to attend. Any team that does not get through in the draw will have their entry fee returned in full.
Stray FM will conduct the draw, as usual. In another twist, the lottery will be also used to allocate a city to each team for the Best Dressed pageant in line with this year's Bed Race theme: Cities of the World. Each team will get a different city drawn from various locations around the world. Teams, no doubt, will use their unbridled imaginations to come up with suitable and outlandish designs for the beds and for themselves.
The last time this approach to the theme was employed was in 2012, when the theme was 'Olympic Nations'. This was very successful and the Best Dressed Bed award was won by the team who were allocated Belgium. They came up with a design based on the Smurfs, to the great delight of spectators. This year the theme will similarly tax the ingenuity of Bed Race stalwarts.
The 2016 Great Knaresborough Bed Race will be held on Saturday 11 June.
