Bed Race Road Closures and Park and Ride
This year's Great Knaresborough Bed Race is expected to attract thousands of spectators as in past years. Provisions have been made for a free park-and-ride bus service between Knaresborough Technology Park on Manse Lane and ALM Manufacturing on Grimbalds Crag Close in Knaresborough. Our goods friends from ALM and Transdev are running an all-day free bus services between these locations and the centre of town. All have donated their premises and services to Bed Race for the benefit of our event and charities, so please respect what they have done. SES will be providing security at the premises. Car parks close at 6.30 pm on Saturday evening, 9 June 2018.
Alternative car parking is available at King James's School from 8 am priced £5, with proceeds going to Water Aid, the Alzheimer's Society and the School Fund.
Come early is our message. The roads in and around Knaresborough close from midday to 5 pm. This affects the centre of town, the High Street, Boroughbridge Road from Stockwell, Ripley Road from Land's Lane and Harrogate Road from the junctions with Forest Lane and Bog's Lane.
Parking is suspending for the day on the race route. Please obey the notices. Buses will continue to operate on Briggate and Gracious Street. Trains from Leeds via Harrogate and York will run all day.
This is the 53rd occasion on which Bed Race has been held in an unbroken line back to 1966. That we are able to continue to shut roads in and around the town centre for this great annual event is due to the cooperation of the Town Council, HBC, residents and traders; please respect the environment, keep safe and either take your litter home with you or find a proper receptacle.
