Coming to Knaresborough for 10th June
Coming to Knaresborough for the 2017 Great Knaresborough Bed Race on 10 June? Come early, as they say. Roads close at midday so arrive before the rush starts. Extra parking is being provided at Manse Lane, GSPK, and on Grimbalds Crag Close at ALM. Buses operated by ALM and Transdev will run frequently to the centre of town. This is all free so please respect our friends who are providing these services. Parking closes at 6.30 pm at both sites. The Knaresborough Lions are providing security. To walk to the town centre from both car parks takes no more than 15 minutes.
In addition, King James School will be providing a paid-for car park with funds going to charity. There will be bus services operating up Gracious Street from Harrogate and on the York Road from York. Train services will operate in and out of Knaresborough station from York and Harrogate/Leeds all day.
Parking in the centre of Knaresborough is prohibited all day. The roads in Knaresborough town centre, High Street and Bond End, as well as from Harrogate Golf Club on Forest Lane Head and on the Ripley Road from Lands Lane will be closed from 12.30 to 5.00 pm, except for emergency vehicles.
Special security measures are in place to ensure that everyone has a trouble-free day to enjoy the 52nd Great Knaresborough Bed Race.
Please remember, the Parade starts at 1 pm from Knaresborough Castle to Conyngham Hall, and the Race begins at 3.00 pm. Most racers are in before 4.00 pm and the roads will re-open at 5.00 pm.
